Aussie pop rock/pop punk band 5 Seconds of Summer may be wrapping up their summer tour with One Direction, but the group already has plans to headline a tour in 2015. Aptly named Rock Out With Your Socks Out, the band’s tour will hit the UK, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the USA.
Rock Out With Your Socks Out will be the band’s first headlining world tour. The tour will kick off in Lisbon, Portugal on May 4, 2015 and come to a close in West Palm Beach, Florida on September 13, 2015. Tickets for the band’s tour are in such high demand that many shows have already sold out, and new dates have been added to meet the demands of fans. The group will play multiple dates in London, Dublin, Birmingham, Chicago and Wantagh.
The 2015 summer tour will include performances of songs from the band’s debut, self-titled album released in 2014. The album debuted on the Billboard 200 at number one and sold 259,000 copies during the first week of its release. The band achieved the biggest first-week sales for a debut album, beating out Daughtry’s 2006 self-titled album.
Although this is the band’s first headlining world tour, 5 Seconds of Summer is no stranger to the road. They toured with One Direction twice on their Take Me Home Tour in 2013 and their Where We Are Tour in 2014. They also toured with Hot Chelle Rae as their opening act on their Whatever World Tour in 2012.
5 Seconds of Summer gained attention after the group started posting videos of popular song covers to YouTube. The group’s cover of the song “Next to You” by Chris Brown received more than 600,000 views. After gaining the attention of music labels and a fourth member, the band signed a deal with Sony ATV Music Publishing and began working on their EP entitled Unplugged. Although Facebook and Twitter were the group’s only means of promotion, the album still reached number three on the Australia’s iTunes chart and the top 20 in Sweden and New Zealand.
5 Seconds of Summer, or 5SOS, credits Boys Like Girls, Green Day, Blink 182, McFly and Busted as their musical influences. Although the group is marketed as a pop rock band, their punk rock influence is evident in their stage performances and their music.
Tickets for the European leg of the 5 Seconds of Summer Rock Out With Your Socks Out can be purchased at your local box office now.
