The summer of 2014 is on fire with music heard from some of the biggest bands ever to hit the stage. Dave Matthews Band first announced their tour, called ‘A Very Special Evening,’ in January of 2014, but this tour is very different than any other the band has played.
So, what is a very special evening? The band decided to give fans what they want and not include an opening act. This sounds rather boring, right? Absolutely, not. Instead, Dave Matthews Band will play two whole sets during every show. The first set will be acoustic and will be much more smooth and subtle than what fans are accustomed to from the band.
The next time the band hits the stage, fans will be greeted with the electric set that they are used to hearing from Dave Matthews Band. This gives the perfect balance between a typical show and one that is played to a smaller crowd.
Festivities kicked off in Woodland, Texas and will come to a close in Irvine, California on September 6th. The night starts off with an acoustic set that will have fans left in awe. If you have never heard acoustic before, DMB is definitely one of the best in the business. A 9-song setlist is typically played with “Bartender,” “Oh” and “What Would You Say” making the list. This is an epic moment and is one that will get fans ready for the strong electric sound coming next.
There is a short break before the second set begins, but it is well worth the wait. When the band hits the stage for the second time, they bring the electric sound that they are best known for. Attendees will be able to hear “So Right,” “Gravedigger” and “Halloween” during the 14-song electric set that is played.
Encores typically take place with 2 – 3 songs being sang to make the entire set at least 24 songs in length, but sometimes as many as 27 songs are performed depending on the night.
