Kings of Leon’s massive ‘Mechanical Bull’ tour is getting ready to gear up for its third North America leg. The band started touring in early February 2014 with two North American legs and one date in Dubai. The band finished their European leg on July 4 in Dublin at Marlay Park and will kick off the final leg of their tour on July 31 in Missouri. The massive world tour will finally come to a close on October 5 in Irvine, California.
Kings of Leon will be joined by Young the Giant and Kongos during the third and final leg. Gary Clark, Jr. was the opening act for the first leg and Local Natives for the second.
Young the Giant is an indie rock band from Irvine, California that formed in 2004 and was originally known as The Jakes. Their first three singles “Cough Syrup,” “My Body,” and “Apartment” were all in the top five on the US Alternatives chart. Their 2013 single “It’s About Time” peaked at number 2. Fans can expect to hear their top singles as well as other fan-favorites from Mind over Matter.
Kongos is an alternative rock band from South Africa that will open the night. You may remember their song “Come with Me Now” on the Holy Motors film trailer. Fans can also expect to hear them perform “I’m Only Joking” during their set.
Kings of Leon’s setlist consists of 23 songs with three encores. The band will open with “Charmer” and close with “Use Somebody.” Other songs on the list include: “Pyro,” “Radioactive,” “Notion,” “Temple,” “Sex on Fire,” “Crawl” and more.
Although the third leg of the tour has yet to start, shows on the first few legs of the tour have featured a more relaxed and laid back Kings of Leon. Many would go as far as saying that the band has cleaned up its act for this tour. Despite this fact, the band still puts on an electric performance that fans are sure to remember.
